Jamie Howe is currently a fourth year student at the Royal Academy of Music in London.  Formerly Head Boy at Chetham’s School of Music, Jamie began his viola studies with Graham Oppenheimer and is now under the tutelage of Jon Thorne.

Jamie has played with the Academy Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Semyon Bychkov, Sir Mark Elder and John Wilson amongst others.  He has enjoyed masterclasses with Timothy Ridout, Clifton Harrison and Garth Knox.

As a member of the Regency String Quartet since his second year at the Academy, Jamie has performed in many venues in London and recently travelled to Hong Kong as part of the Sir Elton John Global Exchange Programme.

He has accepted a place at the Royal College of Music in London for postgraduate studies and hopes to embark on a full-time career in the profession.  Jamie is delighted to have recently been awarded a place in the European Union Youth Orchestra and is looking forward to a six-week tour this summer with concerts under the direction of Iván Fischer in Edinburgh, Bolzano, Lucerne, Berlin and New York.
